The communities of Mayerthorpe and Whitecourt were devastated by the deaths of four RCMP officers ? Constable Peter Schiemann, Constable Leo Johnston, Constable Anthony Gordon and Constable Brock Myrol ? on March 3, 2005. The Fallen 4 Marathon Society formed for the purpose of starting a memorial marathon and relay in honour of the sacrifice made by the fallen officers.

All departures will be behind the Town Hall in Carleton-sur-mer at the Germain Deslauriers Park. The runners will start first at the lighthouse and then continue to Nouvelle returning directly to the starting point.

The 23rd running of the Niagara Ultra Races. 50 km, Marathon, Half Marathon or 10k foot race (on traffic-free asphalt footpath) following the Niagara River Parkway from Niagara-on-the-Lake past Fort George and on to Niagara Falls and back. In continuous sight of the Great River and turning around at the Falls, this fast course offers you the opportunity to run on a very scenic course steeped in Canadian and American history. This is event #6 in the 2015 Ontario Ultra Series.

The run will start in front of the community hall and proceed out of town along the Silver Trail towards Stewart Crossing. The start times will be staggered between the different events starting with the Marathon at 8:00 PM. With the staggered start we will see more people finishing around the same time making it more exciting for onlookers at the finish line. Each year we try to build off of the previous year's experience, with improvements and changes being picked up along the way.
